THE NOTEBOOK
While studying the Major Arcana through symbolic diagrams,
I began imagining the cards as mechanical devices.
Levers.
Gears.
Trapdoors.
Mirrors.
At first they were simply visual experiments.
But gradually the images began connecting.
The Fool releasing a lever.
The Magician turning the first gear.
The High Priestess sliding open a hidden gate.
The Tower releasing pressure when the system overloads.
The Star recalibrating the mechanism.
Page after page the diagrams grew more elaborate.
Until one evening something strange happened.
The sketches stopped looking like individual ideas.
They looked like
a machine.
And when tarot readings were examined through that lens...
the cards behaved exactly as the diagrams predicted.
Pressure.
Motion.
Collapse.
Recalibration.
The notebook did not explain tarot.
It revealed the mechanism that had been operating all along.
